Privacy Policy

Who we are

We take our clients’ privacy very seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

My Planning Appeal is a trading name of Spinlove Limited, registered in England (company number 12591308). Our registered address is 42 Hampstead House, 176 Finchley Road, London NW3 6BT. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, contact us at info@myplanningappeal.co.uk.

What information we collect

When you contact us through our website, we ask for personal details such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, your local council and your planning reference number, along with anything you tell us about your case in your message.

If you instruct us, we will also hold the documents relating to your planning application and appeal — such as your decision notice, plans and correspondence — and details of the payment you make for our services.

Like most websites, we also collect limited technical information about visits to our site through cookies and analytics (see ‘Cookies and analytics’ below).

How we use your information

We use your personal information to respond to your enquiry, to advise you on your case, and — if you instruct us — to prepare, submit and manage your planning appeal on your behalf. This includes corresponding with your local council and the Planning Inspectorate, which necessarily involves sharing your name, address and application details with them as part of the appeal process.

Our lawful basis for this is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and then to perform our contract with you. Where we keep records after your case has ended, we do so under our legitimate interests in maintaining professional records and complying with our legal obligations.

We will not use your information for marketing purposes without your consent, and we will never sell your information to anyone.

Who we share it with

We do not pass your information to any external organisation except where it is necessary to provide our services or run our business. In practice this means: your local planning authority and the Planning Inspectorate, as part of your appeal; our payment provider, which processes your card payment (we do not see or store your card details); and the providers of our website hosting and email services, who store data on our behalf under contract.

All of these providers act under appropriate safeguards, and we will not share your information with anyone else without your express prior agreement, unless we are required to do so by law.

How long we keep it

If you make an enquiry but do not instruct us, we keep your details for 12 months and then delete them. If you become a client, we keep your case file for 6years after your case concludes, in line with professional record-keeping requirements, and then securely delete it.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are most popular. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings without affecting your ability to use the site.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is inaccurate, to ask us to delete it, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@myplanningappeal.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
